Attendees visiting the 1000 plus companies being represented at Singapore Airshow will find “emerging opportunities, dialogues and technologies,” said Leck Chet Lam, managing director, of airshow organiser Experia Events.
This year’s event will host exhibitors from 50 countries and some 20 national groups, with Indonesia and the Philippines attending as a group for the first time.
Among new international exhibitors is one of Turkey’s major defence institutions, Roketsan, and rapid manufacturing systems provider SLM Solutions from Germany.
Disappointingly there are no significant defence related conferences or events planned with most of the focus on the civil aviation industry. Only the one-day Singapore Aerospace Technology and Engineering Conference (SATEC) had the participation of the Royal Singapore Air Force (RSAF).
The airshow too lacks some bite. Although there are two USAF Lockheed Martin F-22 fifth generation fighters on static display, an Boeing MV-22C from the USMC alongside the Royal Australian Air Force (RAAF) Alenia C-27J Spartan and Airbus A400M, non will be participating in the flying display. The main highlights will be the joint display of the RSAF F-15SG together with a Boeing AH-64D attack helicopter, the Republic of Korea Air Force Black Eagles display team together with a French Air Force Dassault Rafale, USAF F-16 C/D Fighting Falcon and a Royal Malaysian Air Force Sukhoi Su-30MKM. An USAF B-52 will trundle past the crowds on Sunday.
France has been selected as the feature country for this year’s airshow and the French Ambassador Benjamin Dubertret stated that 60 French companies would exhibit through the French Aerospace Industry Association (GIFAS).
