The first tests of the Russian Navy’s new hypersonic ZIRCON cruise missiles apparently have been launched in Russia.
“Tests of the hypersonic ZIRCON missiles have begun using a ground-based launching site,” a senior defence industry source recently told RIA Novosti.
The weapon is expected to reach the speed of 5-6 Mach and will be mounted on Russia's newest fifth-generation HUSKY-class nuclear submarines which are currently under development.
