Logos Technologies (booth #223) is showcasing its weight-reduced Redkite wide-area motion imagery (WAMI) sensor for tactical UAVs and multi-sensor payloads. At 35 lbs, Redkite was already the lightest, smallest WAMI system on the market. Now, company engineers have further reduced the sensor to under 30 lbs, enabling smaller Department of Defense Group 3 unmanned aircraft systems (UAS) to carry Redkite. “We are constantly pushing the limits of innovation with our systems,” John Marion, president of Logos Technologies, said “and making WAMI accessible to more customers for more mission sets.”

The new lighter weight Redkite can also be mounted on larger platforms alongside other sensors, such as full-motion video or hyperspectral cameras. This multi-payload arrangement allows operators to engage in real-time sensor cross-cueing. Or the weight reduction allows longer flights. “It all goes back to delivering more powerful capabilities in smaller packages,” Marion told MT.

Currently under development is an even lighter weight version of Redkite that weighs 20 lbs or less and can be integrated into Department of Defense Group 2/3 unmanned aircraft systems.
Other systems Logos Technologies is presenting at SOFIC include the “stealth” SilentHawk hybrid-electric quiet motorcycle and the Simera lightweight aerostat-/tower-based WAMI sensor, which will be used during the Olympic Games 2016 in Rio.

Calculating distance to target and windage are critical for shot placement. Shooters know bullet weight and speed are components of these calculations. Meprolight has created a laser enhanced 10X40 computerised scope for snipers, the Meprolight MESLAS, which has a number of features that assist the shooter— after target acquisition— with the ability to quickly lase distance 80-2,500m factoring in angle of shot. MESLAS incorporates a single-pulse laser rangefinder, which displays the actual range and enables the shooter to stay “on glass” and use quick wind formula to make his own wind hold and shoot. Utilising the five-button touchpad that controls the fire control system the on-board ballistic calculator to enables the shooter to upload ten different ballistic solutions for different weapon systems. The MESLAS is designed tough and built rugged to withstand harsh battlefield conditions.
