Six of the Algerian Air Force’s new Mi-28NE attack helicopters were seen in public for the first time in late August, participating in a live fire exercise at the Ain Ouessara air base during an inspection by Lt.Gen. Ahmed Gaid Salah, Chief of Staff of the People’s National Army.
The third operator of the Mi-28NE (after Iraq and Russia,) Algeria has 42 of the attack helicopter on order: Initial deliveries took place in May this year. The aircraft are being delivered in a dual control configuration, allowing either crew member to pilot the aircraft.
The helicopters seen at Ain Ouessara carried the mast-mounted N025E radar and rocket pods for the 87mm S-8. Launch tubes for either the 9M114 KOKON or 9M120 ATAKA air to surface missiles were also reported.
