Curtiss-Wright and Ledatel are showcasing the GVDU family of low-cost rugged touchscreen displays for ground vehicles, built to deliver optimal performance in full military operating environments.

The GVDU family of displays are a line of low cost LCD mission displays, developed for the ground vehicle market, from decades of industry-leading experience in reliability and ruggedisation. Curtiss-Wright's GVDUs combine military rugged design, great performance and a rich, flexible set of features including night vision imaging system (NVIS) compatibility, programmable bezel buttons and powerful embedded processing, at a cost-effective price point.

GVDUs are fully qualified to established military environmental standards and can be connected to a wide variety of video sources. External video is accepted as DVI-D or analog input, suitable for direct connection to mission or map computers. The displays feature USB and RS-232/RS-422 to implement the touchscreen and bezel button interface.

When configured with an internal embedded processor, the rugged mission display provides an enhanced set of interfaces including Ethernet, USB, RS-232/ RS-422 and GPIO. The internal processor provides graphics input to the displays and receives all touchscreen and bezel button operations. The processor may be used to implement a map display, function as a mission computer or decompress and display network video, amongst many other possibilities.

GVDUs offer market-leading high brightness LCDs with optional advanced anti-reflective filtering to achieve excellent readability under all conditions, including bright incident sunlight. For users of night vision goggles, the displays can be fitted with a night vision goggle (NVG) compatible filter or with two sets of LCD illumination that can be selected at the flick of a switch: One bright for daylight, the other night-vision compatible.
