As training takes on a more international scope and joint training operations become increasingly important to forces. The international defence community wants to be able to benefit from RUAG’s solutions but used also in conjunction with those of other operators. To support this possibility RUAG ensures its solutions work with both the COSIM and the OSAG laser codes.

RUAG’s live training solutions cover everything from individual soldiers through to complex MOUT (Mobile Operations in Urban Terrain) installations. The foundation of RUAG’s offering is the GLADIATOR Man Worn Unit. It comprises of a helmet unit, an integrated harness unit and a laser unit. Together they enable fire and movement training for individual soldiers through to a whole brigade. Participants learn using GLADIATOR personal weapon handling, individual and group ground tactics and operational techniques.

RUAG’s MOUT solution in Walenstadt (Switzerland) is a truly world class facility for live training. It is built around a mock town known as “Aeuli”, consisting of 23 buildings equipped with over 1,000 devices used to control and display the current status of every feature the building has. These features include; breach-points, windows, doors and staircases. Having these features controlled allows their usable status to change during the course of the training. This makes trainees recognise events around them and think on their feet, dramatically improving the effectiveness of the training.
As the official supplier of simulation and training solutions to the Swiss Army, RUAG have a long history of developing innovative ways to train soldiers in a safe, cost effective but above all realistic way.

RUAG is an international technology group for aerospace and defence. The head office is in Bern (Switzerland). RUAG has its production sites in Germany, Austria, Hungary, Sweden, and the USA. RUAG employees 7,700 staff worldwide, of which 5,000 are in Switzerland, including 10% trainees.
