The world’s largest gun show kicked off on Tuesday giving enthusiasts a first glimpse at new firearms and kit. Over the course of four days, 20-23 January, more than 65,000 industry professionals from all 50 states and more than 100 countries are convening in Las Vegas at the Sands Expo Center for the 37th annual Shooting, Hunting and Outdoor Trade Show (SHOT Show).
Not only is SHOT Show the fifth-largest trade show in Las Vegas, it is the largest trade show of its kind in the world. SHOT is always on an epic scale. This year more than 1,600 exhibitors are showcasing the latest and greatest in firearms, ammunition, hunting, shooting accessories and more.
Owned and sponsored by the National Shooting Sports Foundation (NSSF), the SHOT Show provides an opportunity for those in the business to get a first look at products and services used by target shooters, hunters, outdoorsmen and law enforcement professionals. Walking through the 630,000sqft of products, it’s clear that vendors have brought a wide range of new and existing goods – there are guns for all income levels, for all different purposes, and for all different environments, from rural areas through to big cities; from hunting to military.
SHOT Show isn’t just about sales. It also about networking – swapping tales, tips and lessons learned. Every year it brings together representatives from the hunting and shooting sports industry with accomplished military and law enforcement professionals and veterans.
Mustang Survival announced that it has significantly enhanced the capabilities of its SENITNEL Series Dry Suits. Driven by real-time feedback from the United States Coast Guard (USCG) on the Sentinel Boat Crew Dry Suit, the official boat crew dry suit of the USCG, this continuous improvement initiative has led to a product with improved performance that is even easier to use.
The user-driven enhancements include:
“We pride ourselves on providing world-class solutions to the most demanding users,” said Don Dutton, Vice President & General Manager, Mustang Survival. “Our dry suits are trusted by the US Coast Guard, US Navy, FBI and other elite teams and agencies around the world. Continuous improvements like these further build confidence that our products will work when they need them the most.”
Building on its successful line of concealment holsters with internal retention systems, Safariland features two new products, the 537 GLS and 547 PRD Open Top Concealment Belt Slide Holsters, at booth #12762. The 537 GLS Open Top Concealment Belt Slide Holster features Safariland’s unique Grip Lock System (GLS), an innovative technology that automatically secures a handgun when holstered and releases it upon application of the middle finger with a standard shooting grip for a more intuitive and safer release. The holster is designed for the ultimate experience in custom fit and comfort, featuring tension adjustment for tailoring handgun fit and a soft flexible holster body that molds around the wearer. The 547 PRD Open Top Concealment Belt Slide Holster is engineered with a low profile and wide weight disbursement for comfort and concealability. The Pinch Retention Device (PRD) secures the holstered firearm by clamping on to both sides of the trigger guard when the gun is fully-seated, and releases it upon initiation of the draw by pulling through the device. Both holsters fit 1.5” (38mm) belt loops.
The Safariland Group furthermore released the all-new Sons Shield Trauma Kit featuring military-grade trauma supplies durably packaged in an easy-to-access unit not much bigger than a wallet. Proven in combat by soldiers in Iraq and Afghanistan, the Shield Trauma Kit is 4.5” x 6”, about ½” to ¾” thick and is designed to help save lives.
“Gear readiness is critical to saving lives,” said Todd Mackler, Vice President, Armor, The Safariland Group. “We are offering the Shield Trauma Kit for law enforcement officers and other first responders who were tired of bulky pouches and bags and were looking for a way to carry military-grade supplies in a more efficient and accessible package. The Shield Trauma Kit is compact and light enough to be carried by anyone in the field.”
Offered in two models, the Shield Trauma Kit contents are packed in clear, heavy-duty, medical-grade vinyl and organized according to typical injury patterns for maximum efficiency during trauma treatment. Engineered for instant access even in tight quarters, the ½” thick unit fits undetectably under body armor and is small enough to be carried in a jacket pocket or duty belt and won’t impede tactical maneuvers or movement in small spaces. Model SHTK-1 – Intermediate includes six components, and with the Model SHTK-2 Advanced, an additional hemostatic clotting gauze is added for a total of seven items.
